About us at A.K. Timms and Sons Limited
More than 50 years ago, Arthur Timms established A.K. Timms and Sons Limited as an agricultural business, ploughing fields, delivering milk and growing a range of crops and animal feed.
Following the United States Air Force (UASF) take-over of the Brize Norton airbase in the 1950s, Arthur began to collect and sell old scraps of timber from the adjacent air base.
His business expanded rapidly and the original premises in a disused stone quarry in Brize Norton became too small. In 1964 he purchased the larger site on Station Road where the business still operates today.
In 1983, Arthur sadly passed away leaving the business to his two sons Phil and Jeff. The timber department was extended and the neighbouring public house was purchased. This land was used to extend the car park and almost double the size of the shop.
In the late 90s, the stock system was computerised, helping improve the efficiency of the sales process. In 2009, the software was again updated with a Bis-Track solution, which replaced the need for paper invoices, improved the POS process and finally meant all held stock was on the system.
After Jeff and Phil retired, the company entered a new phase and now a third generation are managing the business.
